I’m betting you have read a lot of articles in the last few weeks about coping with the Normal for Now Covid-19 Pandemic and its impact on daily life. I’ve probably written one or two of them.
Right now is also a time to give serious thought to possible changes you hope, want, and might need to make. Do you find yourself thinking about the best way to re-engineer, re-energize or re-capture your business, division, department, team, or even your own individual professional brand in an effort to bring new (and possibly existing) clients to your door? If so then this is the time to consider a few strategies to employ so that you hit the ground running when the light turns green.
Pull Together a Focus Group and Listen – Gather a group of your best customers, prospective customers, coworkers, employees, and mentors on ZOOM, SKYPE, or WebEx. Ask them for their ideas about how to revamp your brand. Ask for ideas that require little or no money. It can be a nice surprise to hear ideas that are small to implement and result in a big improvement.
Focus – Once you have some ideas, focus in on the ones that will result in savings for your customers (internal OR external) or provide the best value to them, and what might bring in new customers. Focus on THEM rather than you.
Add Extras – Look at how you can include ‘extras’ that benefit customers and will bring more old and new clients to your door/website/portal. How about a newsletter, a discount for quantity or a free initial consultation/assessment?
Couple Up – Could you make your brand compatible with another product or service? Can you reduce the time frame if clients are rushed or have a shortened lead time? Make it easy for customers to use you.
Overhaul Your Customer Base – A wider customer base can make up for a slow market or the need to create new products or services. Are there potential clients out in the marketplace that might use your service/product if you just tweaked your marketing pitch or pricing structure a little bit?
We may all need to review and revamp no matter how perfect or well-entrenched the brand, product, or service may have been. Most people start thinking about energizing their focus at the end of a year or once the calendar reads “January.” But you don’t have to be like everyone else. Instead of waiting around, freshen up and think about how you will lay a strong foundation to get the word out.
Get ready so you can be ready when the light turns green.
